Happiness is a warm saddle

Hardly news to people who already cycle regularly, but it makes a change to see it getting a bit of publicity. Cycling to work makes people happy:
"studies comparing the experiences of commuting by bicycle and car report that cyclists find their mode of transport at least as flexible and convenient as those who use cars, with lower stress and greater feelings of freedom, relaxation and excitement"
Full report here.

(and yes, I realise it's possible that it is happiness that makes people cycle, or that some other factor is causal both in happiness and cycling...)

Agreed, except when it rains in the depths of winter, when I tend to envy the car drivers.

Even then, occasionally a bike ride is fun, so long as there's a hot shower at the end (which there is for us). But I'm no martyr and willingly get the train on grim days.
