Spring is in the air, the birds are singing and houses are sprouting.

Having all your power produced in a small number of locations seems to be a bit problematic, so why don't the Japanese government make solar panels (or solar roofing) mandatory on all new buildings?

So what are all those mats on the floor? They can't be solar panels, cos the truck has driven over them.

They will be the important mats to make sure the trucks don't mess up the driveway. Like when you buy a new household item and the delivery men cover every floor and wall along their path with protection.

I guess Asian technology has advanced since my last exposure - a Life magazine photo spread showing much higher dam scaffolding - using tied bamboo.
