The atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide rose by about half a percent in 2005, the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) said.
It said levels were likely to keep rising unless emissions of CO2, methane and nitrogen oxides were slashed.
I hope that this "likely" is not meant to be interpreted as an IPCC 66-90% "likely" :-) "Virtually certain" (>99%) would not be over-stating things...

The BBC editor certainly knows beliefs about how much CO2 can be added before the container fills up will vary, depending how the person views the container.

They can't afford to offend anyone who believes they can just keep pouring and it won't ever get full.
