Mammoth is a village in the north of Yellowstone Park. Once when we were there we saw some advertising proudly stating that all the indigenous species are living in Yellowstone. So, ever since then we have been keeping our eyes peeled. We were very lucky on our last visit. The animals seem more visible in the spring. Many were staked out by rangers and photographers which made them hard to miss.
And this time were really lucky to see one of the rarer indigenous species: a mammoth!
All those photographers actually didn't notice the mammoth. They were too focussed on something so much more mundane - just a bear and two cute cubs:
