In case anyone was wondering who on earth buys those brightly coloured SLRs... young women are powerful consumers in Japan...

Why doesn't it say "Hello Kitty"?
Why shoudl it?
are you telling me that the Hello Kitty craze has disappeared in Japan?
I have no idea, but she's not got any Hello Kitty stuff on her, so I don't see why I would have mentioned it. The apperently now world-wide revolting cutification and pinkification of feminitity isn't due to one just company.
She has someone else dangling from it...don't know who, but perhaps they are allergic to cats...
Jules,
I was trying to be funny. I meant the camera not your comment. Just the idea of a relatively high end camera being pink made me think of the ludicrous idea that it should also be branded "Hello Kitty".
I was always both fascinated and repelled by the Japanese obsession with cute and young animals to the point of seemingly being embryos. I won an award at Shizuoka and the mascot was so underdeveloped that one could only determine it was probably a vertebrate.
(James thanks for trying to bail me out ;-)
You are certainly not the only one to have made the association!
Surprising as it may seem, jules has on occasion been described as "spiky". I couldn't possibly comment on the accuracy of that adjective :-)
Kawaii!
a. She is a woman
b. She is a scientist
c. Goes with the territory
d. Why is the subject of books and blogs.
OMG, in BRATTLEBORO, VT, where I live. I just saw a Hello Kitty decked out car. Hello Kitty was in letters 2 feet high on both sides!
