War on toner cartridges

Once again proving that life is far stranger than fiction...

Unbelievable as it may sound, following the recent bomb attempt, there really is a ban on carrying toner cartridges in hand baggage.

It's like a crazy mix of Simon Says meets 1984 meets Viz:

Bin Laden says...
And now...
I mean really, WTF? Is the British public so gobsmackingly stupid, the press so craven and cowardly, and the politicians so...despicably political, that this is going to go through on the nod? Just so we can all agree that Something has been Done?

I do pity the poor person who until this day has religiously carried a spare printer toner cartridge in his carry-on baggage for every trip, just in case he ran out while on holiday. Whoever he is, he'll be gutted that the terrorists didn't use...I dunno, a camera? An airconditioner? A box? Anything other than a toner cartridge!

Now they'll be forced to carry refill kits, which as everyone knows couldn't possibly be used to obscure a bomb.

The irony is that if these 'terrists' go to the next level and hide explosives in the anal cavities, then this would be great.

Cavity searches would then be as common as taking off your shoes, therefore fewer people would dare to fly. This is good for the environment.

Those GHz scanners cannot do cavity searches, so they would be useless.

I am just waiting to see the exact knee-jerk reaction to the 'explosives in anal cavity' story!

And exactly how does removing toner cartridges from airplanest affect the black carbon problem?

The terahertz cavity scanning problem can be easily overcome by skinning and eviscerating passengers beforehand .

This may be facilitated by offering upgrades to on the spot organ donors
