Japanese mountain culture may not be for everyone.
6:00am: high altitude toilet (3000m)
On the bright side, I wrecked my boots, so we had a good reason to attend the first day opening of the newly relocated mountain shop, Kamoshika, in Yokohama. Great shop. Lovely new blue nubuck boots!

Yum! OTOH the quality of the crockery and presentation is far above what you'd get in Yourp.
I do not like green eggs and ham.
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.
So do you dip the seaweed in in the egg, or what?
You stir up the cold raw egg in a bowl with some soy sauce, mix it into your bowl of tasteless white boiled rice, pick up some of it in a sheet of dried seaweed (which is the stuff in the plastic packet in the photo)...
...
...and then throw it straight down the toilet :-)
There is a much more appetising mountain hut breakfast on this page.
I once had steak tartar in a Paris resturant: freshly ground raw horse meat with a dip pushed into the center and a raw egg floating there.
Delicious, even if I don't recall the wine...
Since I'm quite hungry just now, my attitude has changed.
Oishi sou.
