Ready for a nice ride to work?
Yes, that's my seat all covered in snow!
brrr! :-(
I've heard stupid people on the radio saying how we should heat our houses less and ride our bicycles in order to save the planet. But really, why would anyone normal bother? It is clear that most people just want to stay warm and get fat. And it isn't like it is actually going to make a difference to anything...

Can you buy those cheap plastic shower caps (plastic bag, elastic band around the rim) over there? When I was in college in Ohio, aeons ago, they were great for keeping the bicycle seat dry. Remove before riding, of course ....
Where would be the fun in that?
Actually, as most of the rain here is in the warmer months, we tend to leave our saddles uncovered and then put a bag over them to ride. They just go mouldy if you leave a bag on them in warm rainy weather.
Cheer up!
Or this. Much better, I think.
Anyway, some of us like that sort of weather - I keep thinking I need to move North. :/
Sorry to come across like I sounded miserable. It isn't what I meant. Usually I enjoy feeling contempt for the willfully unenlightened fat morons who chose to drive tin boxes when, if they had the smallest imagination, they could be living real world life by bicycle. All that happened was the recent wet and cold made me feel a small amount of understanding for their choice of warm and dry. And given that most people prefer to be warm and dry than wet and cold, the idea of our grandchildren being 10 times better off than us rather than only 9 (or whatever old Nick wrote in his report) hardly seems a sufficient incentive to switch to the cold and wet lifestyle.
How do we know that just after you took that shot the helpful chauffeur (pictured) didn't brush the snow off your seat and sit on it until it was warm and dry?
Cos helpful chauffeur had his own snow-covered saddle to sit on!
Actually, worse than just snow, it was wet snow, so very effective at making things cold...
