This is the Buddhist equivalent of Shift-A in Google Reader (mark all as read). One revolution of the rotating bookshelves containing the Buddhist sutras confers the same merit as actually reading them. There really ought to be something equivalent for the IPCC report.

I am sure that those jolly pedants among James' readership will notice that the rinzo (rotating bookshelf) is in fact fixed in the photo. So it has been for the last couple of times we visited the temple (Hase Dera). I don't know why, although quite a bit of the temple seems to be being refurbished at present. It has not always been so, however, so the photo should perhaps be considered as a re-enactment... after all - how useful would it be to read all those sutra yet again?!
It should work, by equivalence principle, to simply walk around it.
Probably widdershins confers the greater merit. :-)
So, you think that the possibilities are to either hold the IPCC report and spin round in my chair, or put it on the ground and walk anti-clockwise round it? It certainly sounds less invasive then getting a dataport like Harper in Andromeda, although I really could do with one for anyway to Japanese among other things.
my words got jumbled
I meant to say how handy it would be to have a dataport for learning Japanese.
Put the IPCC report in your chiar and spin it while you stand nearby. Otherwise, put the IPCC report in your chair and walk widdershins around it. Either will work equally well. :-)
