That means "I passed" and the kanji version is 合格しました. What this means is that my JLPT level 2 test results just arrived. I got 250 points out of 400, which is 62.5%, just scraping over the 60% pass mark.
The breakdown was:
77/100 Kanji and Vocab
59/100 Listening
114/200 Reading/Grammar
which was pretty close to what I thought, plus one or two lucky guesses. I'm not sure whether I should be more pleased to have passed or to have accurately predicted my result :-)

John Fleck says -
I await your explanation of your use of Bayesian statistics in predicting your score.
Congratulations.
John,
Oh there was nothing sophisticated involved, just a reasonably accurate assessment of my limited linguistic abilities. I'm not a fan of false modesty or (hopefully) too prone to hubris, and on another day I could certainly have scraped a fail. There was never strong evidence either way for my estimate - perhaps because I have a finely-honed habit of always doing the bare minimum to achieve a desired threshold :-)
Deditos,
Thanks (I think)!

Congratulations! I'm still waiting for my results for the same test. Another month or so to wait in the States.
A word of advice from a man who wasted 2 years teaching in Japan and at the end of it managed to get 86% on this years level 1 JLPT exam, as well as the level 2 KanKen - stop studying; it isn't worth it.
No matter how many white whales Ahab kills, God doesn't give him his leg back.
They will never accept you, no matter how amazing your grasp of the language becomes. I was stupid and wrong to study Japanese - three times over for learning Chinese and Korean as well. I utterly regret ever stepping foot in Asia, working for a janitor's wages and making so much effort for nothing. Quit now, or share my fate.
Nick,
I feel your pain. However the language learning is basically a hobby, and I have my eyes wide open regarding "acceptance" and lack thereof.
