Gary Bellamy on global warming

There was an unusually good program on global warming on Radio 4 last week. Better than their usual stuff anyway. Catch it quick as I think it might not be available in couple of days.

Also interesting to note in this week's 'Archers' omnibus the strong presence of GW themes, from 'what trees to plant for future generations?' to 'Doing our bit for the cause'.

The Archers - the world's longest running soap (but on radio, not TV) is often viewed as a benchmark of issues and attitudes of the British 'chattering classes' and can be surprisingly influential in raising issues of social importance.

There does seem to be a consistent effort on Radio 4 (the 'thinking Briton's' talk radio)to raise the issues of GW and its implications, which suggests that someone there is working hard to get the message across.

I am looking forward to Jim Hansen's guest appearance at this year's Ambridge Fair...

Yes, we just noticed that on the omnibus yesterday. Very on-message!

For those who want to listen again...here's all 76 minutes of it (again, be quick cos that link will change to a more recent edition in another week).

It's great but have you seen the first link of Gore about IPCC? It's a great reading! ;-)

Oh what a shame. I had previously been under the illusion that Czechoslovakia was a civilized and intelligent country.

Now I can't get the image of Borat out of my mind.

It's no Borat. It's Winston Churchill combined with Margaret Thatcher, and we will beat you.

I forgot to ask, when you were under the illusion, what did you think about temperature correlations? ;-)

Lumo,

Down here you seemed to be complaining that someone was stopping you from creating your website. While I don't actually think a ban is appropriate, the world would be a better place for its absence.

After all those years of Czechoslovakia, just plain Czechia seems so insufficient. Czechistan is perfect! Good suggestion, Lubos.

Because of some partially irrational nationalist feelings, I like the shock and awe that the Majestic Empire of Czechistan now represents for the Chicken Littles like one above me. ;-)
