I haven't heard any stories myself yet, but it sounds like it is already having an impact in some research sectors.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9959776.post-65309188102232436362016-06-30T13:54:31.384+01:002016-06-30T13:54:31.384+01:00Well some people have noticedWell some people have noticedJames Annanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04318741813895533700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9959776.post-60797842203320802262016-06-30T13:37:12.641+01:002016-06-30T13:37:12.641+01:00Problem is, people can't usually breeze throug...Problem is, people can't usually breeze through even a temporary hiatus in their careers. I've actually now heard a story of someone having their 3y EU-funded postdoc job offer withdrawn in the last few days, not by the EU of course, but presumably because the employer wasn't prepared to take the risk - if we leave they'd not be eligible for the funding but still liable for the postdoc's salary.

I can see the best UK scientists deciding it isn't worth the risk of even applying for EU funding - who would want to set out on a program of research when it could be cancelled 2 years in? Cameron gave some assurances about existing contracts under one particular program - Horizon2020 - but that doesn't say anything about future contracts, or grants outside of that framework.James Annanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04318741813895533700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9959776.post-34322406266171788432016-06-30T13:29:25.312+01:002016-06-30T13:29:25.312+01:00Hopefully, it will only be a temporary slowdown ;-...Hopefully, it will only be a temporary slowdown ;-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9959776.post-5069515403749545292016-06-29T09:45:26.191+01:002016-06-29T09:45:26.191+01:00I predict a new "hiatus" - in science fu...I predict a new "hiatus" - in science funding in the UK!juleshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02591920483149775255noreply@blogger.com
